Through this consultation, the Commission would like to gather different stakeholder views on the EU’s capacity in cloud and edge computing infrastructure, especially in light of increasing data volumes and demand for computing resources, both fuelled by the rise of compute-intensive AI services. Moreover, the Commission seeks views on the use of cloud services in the public sector.

The consultation seeks input from a diverse array of stakeholders, including but not limited to: data centre operators, cloud and edge service providers, AI developers and providers, business users of cloud and AI services, public administrations, financial institutions and investors, consumer organisations, academia, business associations and citizens.

This consultation is an important opportunity for relevant stakeholders to shape the future of EU policy-making at the intersection of cloud and AI. In particular, the collected feedback will be instrumental for the further preparatory work of the European Commission on the above-mentioned policy initiatives.

The call for evidence and public consultation questionnaire are available on the Commission’s “Have your Say” portal. Submissions are open from 9 April to 4 June 2025.
